World Book Day - 08/03/24
World Book Day 2024
World Book Day was a roaring success with an aim to encourage every child to foster a love for reading. It was wonderful to see so many children and staff dressed up as their favourite book character. An enormous thank you to all the parents/carers for all the hard work, creativity and enthusiastic support.
Please see below for all the amazing costumes. Can you guess who we are?
Stories from Around the World
To celebrate our diverse school community and the wide range of languages spoken, some members of staff read their favourite story in their home language.

Book Character Mask Competition
To kickstart the day, the winners of the Book Character Mask competition were announced in the World Book Day celebration assembly. I would like to thank all the children who took part in the competition – the entries were fabulous!

Reading Corner Competition
As part of our drive to promote Reading for Pleasure, all the classes in the school participated in a Reading Corner Competition. The children and teachers were busy creating and designing some amazing Reading Corners which we are pleased to share with you.
Our Year 5 and 6 school council members and SLT, had the difficult job of choosing a winner from all our amazing entries. After a great deal of thought, we chose a class from each key stage as a winner.
Well done to the following classes:
EYFS - RO
Key Stage 1 - 1M
Lower Key Stage 2 - 3S
Upper Key Stage 2 - 6P
Author Visit
Author and former Bollywood journalist, Puneet Bhandal captivated pupils and staff with extracts from her books Melody Queen and Starlet Rivals. The children had a fantastic time and really appreciated the short insight into the world of Bollywood films and stories. Puneet even got everyone up and dancing Bollywood style!
In the afternoon, some children had the opportunity to attend Puneet’s book signing session where she signed one of the novels they had bought.
