It is extremely important to read with your child everyday. To encourage children reading please make sure you regularly use Bug club. When we do guided reading in class we focus on reading domains. (See above)

The purpose of guided reading is for children to problem-solve and practice strategies using level-appropriate text. The role for each child in a guided reading group is to apply the focus strategy to the process of reading the entire text, not just a page.

It gives pupils the chance to apply the strategies they already know to a new text, expanding their understanding and approach to reading.

During guided reading, pupils individually read a text that the teacher has selected at their instructional reading level. Teaching is provided across the lesson to support pupils in building the in-the-head networks of strategic actions for processing increasingly challenging texts.

Guided reading helps pupils develop greater control over the reading process through the development of reading strategies which assist decoding and constructing meaning. The teacher guides, or 'scaffolds', their pupils as they read, talk and think their way through a text.

Please use this section if your child is self isolating at home. Within each PDF, you will find learning that is suitable for your child's year group and that relates to what they are learning in class.
